In Regards to Money and Gift Packages
Residents are allowed to have money that will be deposited into their own personal account to be managed by the Business Office. They will be able to earn weekly allowance as well as have other opportunities to earn money for spending in the store, on approved outings or for items approved by their Therapist or the Treatment Team.
We ask that families please honor the following guidelines when sending money or packages:
- No more than $15 a month
- Birthday money or gift cards to major franchises are not to exceed $25
If sending food, please send limited amounts only of healthier snacks such as beef jerky, protein bars, granola bars, and nuts. Any food sent will remain in the Therapist's office and will only be available to the resident during therapy sessions. Please do not send any drinks with caffeine or drinks in cans or glass bottles. Please do not send any items on the "not allowed list".
Please have any other item or gift that you wish to send to the resident approved by the Primary Therapist. Letters will be sent to families regarding information on other holidays as deemed necessary.
Family Therapy/Visitation
Family therapy is an integral part of the resident's treatment. The focus is to incorporate the family in the resident's care so that family dynamics, support, and problems may be addressed throughout the course of treatment. Family involvement occurs in several ways:
- Family therapy in person or by phone
- Regular family contact through phone calls and mail
- On Campus visits (as arranged by referral source)
- Other family visits may be arranged by the family in addition to the on Campus visits.
During the on Campus visit, the resident and his family will be expected to participate in family therapy, multi-family groups, and activities that promote healthy family living. Activities and visits will be conducted on residential grounds. Residents who have upper Level privileges may be eligible for outings/visits off the facility grounds if approved by the therapist and treatment team. The Treatment Team will review requests for any outings/visits off the facility grounds and the length of time away from the facility will be dependent on the resident's Level.
Phone Calls
Incoming and outgoing phone calls are dependent upon a resident's Level. Residents do not need phone cards as their phone calls will be provided by Cottonwood Treatment Center. All calls on the unit are 10 minutes. Staff may end any phone call that they feel becomes inappropriate. Phone calls may be restricted if the phone calls appear to interfere with the resident's treatment progress. Residents on consequences may have their phone calls restricted until they are off the consequence. Weekly phone calls are as follows:
Entrant Level ― All calls are made through the Therapist
Level 1 / Base Camp ― one incoming and one outgoing phone call per week
Level 2 / Expedition ― two incoming and two outgoing phone calls per week
Level 3 / Summit ― four incoming and four outgoing phone calls per week
Level 4 / Guide ― seven incoming and seven outgoing phone calls per week
If the resident is on the phase level systems, then phone calls are approved by their therapist.
We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Cottonwood treatment Center looks forward to working with you in the future and welcomes any suggestions you may have to help us better serve you and your family. |
