Therapeutic Services

Cottonwood Treatment Center provides individually designed therapeutic services guided by protocols emerging from specialized diagnostic procedures.  Our outcomes are notable and evidence-based.

Our therapeutic services are gender, as well as culturally-sensitive, and evolve to meet each individuals' unique clinical complexion.  Services are strength-based and specifically tailored to support the comprehensive mental, emotional, intellectual, academic and social needs of each individual.  Our program is designed to assist individuals and their families in understanding, addressing, and enhancing life experiences.  Our treatment techniques facilitate communication, encourage trust, and foster hope.  Services provide opportunities to increase resiliency, self-growth, and viable strategies for social competency.

Individual Therapies – Individual strategies, which include biofeedback, video journaling, along with interpersonal processing, are used to assist each individual in gaining insight and change.

Family Therapies – Family therapies include scheduled family phone sessions, scheduled individual sessions, as well as multi-family group sessions.

Substance Abuse Therapies – A cognitive based program along with biofeedback strategies are utilized to develop problem solving, coping skills and relapse prevention.

Specialty Group Therapies – Group therapies address issues including trauma, grief and loss, emotional regulation, self injurious behavior reduction, and healthy sexuality.

Neuronal Training – Neuronal therapies provide adjunctive treatment that measures and optimizes brain wave activity. This treatment strategy is a way to self monitor and modify brain wave function to directly affect behavior, academic performance, as well as physical and emotional health.

Experiential, Physical, Recreational, Expeditional Activities – Recreational intervention is considered to be essential in developing healthy life skills which are necessary after the resident leaves our facility. Residents explore the beautiful Utah landscape, and our community service component provides opportunities for each individual to demonstrate newly - learned social skills.
