"Evolution - Steps to independent living"

Evolution - Steps to Independent Living is not just about employment, cooking and bills, it is about being able to effectively communicate a resident's needs and wants to others to socialize appropriately, and develop healthy habits.

The goal is to understand the financial obligations of responsible adult living in order to:

1. Be successful in life
2. Contribute to the well-being of the resident's family
3. Be a successful contributing member of the resident's community

As the resident goes through the program, they will likely experience several obstacles and frustrations.  Those same obstacles and frustration will hopefully motivate the resident to participate in making a better "life" while working on this program, and to absorb this learning experience as one that is very real in the outside world.

The goal is to learn the greatest lesson of all which is, in order to make it in this life, one will first need the fortitude to endure the challenges of living, and then meet those challenges with a desire to continue one's education beyond the walls of Cottonwood Treatment Center.  Additionally, residents are provided with an opportunity to learn that while they are not in complete control of everything that happens in their lives, they can choose how they will respond.
